What Size Sewing Extension Table is best suited for the work you do?
24″ x 24″ (61 cm x 61 cm)
Best for free-motion quilting and large sewing projects, the 24 x 24 is ideal if you have a large work area, it requires a minimum depth of 22″ (55.8 cm) to 24″ (61 cm) for the table to sit, depending on the width of your machine. Weighing 10 lbs (4.5 kg) it isn’t as handy to move around but many quilt instructors recommend it for classes, especially for free-motion quilting, and it has become our most popular size table!
18″ x 24″ (45.7 cm x 61 cm)
If your work space has room to the left of your machine but has limited depth (between your machine and the wall), the 18 x 24 will give full-size width for big projects while fitting on a narrower work space. It requires a minimum depth of 15″ (38.1 cm) to 18″ (45.7 cm) for the table to sit depending on the width of the machine. This table is popular for classes.
16″ x 16″ (40.65 cm x 40.65 cm)
If you plan to take your table to classes or use it when you travel, the 16 x 16 is a very convenient size and is spacious enough for most sewing projects, it’s handy to move around between your machines and it weighs less than 5 lbs (2.27 kg). If you have a long sewing bed on your machine this table will not surround it completely but will fit 6″ (15.25 cm) in the back and up to 7-1/2″ (17.8 cm) in the front.
Mini-Mate 12
For mending, small sewing projects and small spaces, the 12″ (30 cm) x 11″ (28 cm) is bigger than it looks and works great to support your hands while feeding the fabric through your machine. If you’ve been sewing on a narrow sewing bed you’ll find the Mini Mate will double the sewing surface around your needle and give you full support especially under your left hand where you need it most.
